Larissa Humiston began her dance training in 1987 at The Bennett Conservatory for the Arts in Syracuse, NY, studying ballet and jazz. While earning her Bachelor of Arts from Stetson University (2004), she expanded her focus to include modern, lyrical, and contemporary dance, while continuing her training in ballet, jazz, tap, and hip hop.

With a passion for both teaching and choreography, Ms. Humiston has worked with dancers of all ages since 2000. During her time in New York pursuing a Master of Social Work from Syracuse University (2006), she coached two high school dance teams and choreographed for numerous theater productions.

In 2007, Ms. Humiston relocated to Central Florida and founded Emotions Dance Company, a professional 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to producing thought-provoking, emotionally resonant dance works. Under her leadership, the company has received local and national recognition and has become a respected fixture in the Central Florida arts community. Her choreography has been featured in festivals, showcases, and collaborative productions across the region.

In addition to her artistic work, Ms. Humiston is a licensed therapist and runs her own private practice. She continues to dedicate her evenings and weekends to directing, choreographing, and producing for Emotions Dance Company. She also teaches dance classes, master classes, and workshops in both Central Florida and Central New York.
