Emotions Dance is a unique and fresh 501(c)3 non profit, professional Contemporary dance company in the Orlando area. Founded and directed by Larissa Humiston, Emotions Dance seeks to create social and environmental awareness through the art of dance. From the heartfelt, to the heart wrenching and the devious to the direct, Emotions Dance performances challenge audience members to look at themselves and their society. Many Emotions Dance performances seek to align with individuals, groups, and organizations that dialogue about issues to eventually lead to individual or societal changes.

WHAT IS CONTEMPORARY DANCE?
Contemporary dance is an all encompassing term to describe the dance of the times. What is happening right now. Contemporary dance fuses concepts and movements from jazz, modern, ballet, and lyrical dance disciplines and combines them in a way that is socially, culturally and emotionally relevant to the times we live in.

AUDITIONS
Emotions Dance is looking for talented individuals ages 18+ to be a part of our professional contemporary dance company. Dancers must be technically trained and willing to take artistic risks. Dancers should be prepared for ballet barre, progressions across the floor with turns and jumps, a contemporary dance combination, and should prepare a solo (under 2 minutes) to show to the Artistic Director at the end of class. Dancers should also come prepared with a professional resume and headshot. There is a $10 audition fee.
Currently there are 3 male spots, 3 female spots and 2 apprentice (ages 14-18) spots available. Auditions will take place at The Turning Pointe (located at 470 E Lake Brantley Drive in Longwood).

Annual Productions
Element Earth
Explore your relationship with your planet as well as with your fellow humans in this intense performance that uses the elements of Fire, Air, Water and Earth. Partial Proceeds benefit GreenPeace USA
Untold Stories
Emotions Dance explores stories of everyday life with a message of courage and hope. The performance engages audiences with stories about struggles to inspire dialogue and societal change.
Red Chair Affair
Emotions Dance participates in this kickoff to the arts season annual event. Alongside vetrans such as Cirque du Soleil and the Orlando Ballet, Emotions Dance premieres new work each year. Past previews have incuded "Daughter and Sun" and "5th Avenue"
Artsfest
Each year, Emotions Dance brings new and exciting performances for this event, which allows audiences to experience the arts for FREE. Previous performances have included "Excerpts from BE:love" and"Poetry in Motion".
Orlando International Fringe Festival
Emotions Dance enjoys being part of this annual festival every year which is completely unjuried. Previous performances have included, "Untold Stories", "Pandemonium", and "Excerpts"
Collaborative Performances
7 Deadly Sins- October 2009
Emotions Dance collaborated with local artists, vendors, spoken word poets, musicians, body paintors and food vendors to bring audiences a night of sin.
Muddle- February 2010
Emotions Dance collaborated with local musician, Damien Simon, to bring audiences a glimpse of the struggle between good and evil. Who prevails??
Poetry in Motion- October 2010 & February 2011
Emotions Dance wowed audiences with its collaborative performance combining spoken word, with original music and contemporary dance. Collaborating with local spoken word artists such as Tod Caviness, Curtis Meyer and J. Bradley and with originally composed music by local band, The Forefathers, this collaborative dance production moved audiences intensely.
Yow Dance Collaboration- September 2011
Emotions Dance teamed up with modern dance company Yow Dance and In Motion Dance project to bring audiences an all encompassing dance experience
TWIST- October 2011
Emotions Dance polled audiences for their favorite song of all time and put a contemporary twist on the songs!
Other Performances
Rollins College Dance a Thon- October 2007
Emotions Dance participated in Rollins College dance-a-thon where over $20,000 was raised to benefit the Children's Miracle Network
A Night With Emotions Dance- April 2008
Emotions Dance held an evening with Emotions as part of a talk-back series put on by The Center for Contemporary Dance. Here, audiences got a chance to preview new work and to talk with the Artistic Director and dancers about the creative process behind the work.
BE: love - February 2009
Emotions Dance brought audiences BE: love that spoke about all the different facets of love, and the ideas behind it.
