The Pre-Professional Program

Preparing your dancer...

What is the Pre-Professional Program at Emotions Dance?

The pre-professional program at Emotions Dance is designed to give talented dancers the opportunity to get the best training in a variety of dance disciplines, while also offering them non- competitive performance experiences in parades, events, and on stage with our resident professional dance company, Emotions Dance Company.

What classes are required?

Dancers enrolled in the pre-professional program are required to take at least 5 hours of dance technique classes per week (pointe and acro are not considered technique classes).  Dancers must take at least one hour in the following dance disciplines:

  • Ballet

  • Jazz

  • Modern

  • Tap

  • Contemporary

Dancers will also be required to attend rehearsals, which will be on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00 pm. The schedule will be given approximately 1-2 months in advance and not all Tuesdays will be required.

Dancers are also required to attend 2 Saturday Master Series classes, Radix Dance Convention in April, and need to enroll in at least 2 summer classes and participate in at least 2 summer intensives.

Performance Opportunities

Parades, events, and performances with our professional company are optional but strongly encouraged.  Emails will be sent about specific performances and rehearsals and if the dancer and family are able to commit, then the pre-professional dancer can be a part of that performance. Dancers can also submit solos and/or duets to local and state competitions upon director approval.

Possible performance opportunities include:

  • National Dance Day (July 27, 2019)

  • Dancewear Corner Anniversary Event (August 2019)

  • The Shift Professional Showcase (September 2019)

  • Longwood/Casselberry Holiday parade (December 2019)

  • Untold Professional Performance (February 2020)

  • iDance Festival (April 2020)

  • Studio Showcase (May 2020)

  • Professional June show (June 2020)

The commitment for the pre-professional program is August through June.
